September Favorites!

This is my first post to share with you all about some of my favorite beauty products and tools that I really like! So here are a few things I purchased in early September and have had a chance to use for a couple of weeks now:

1.) Real Techniques Travel Essential Set ($17.99 + tax) - I LOVE these brushes for many reasons!  They were inspired and created by Samantha Chapman , who is one of my favorite You Tube beauty gurus! These brushes are soo soft, affordable at under $20 for the set, and they can be easily found at Ulta.  I use the larger brush (pink handle) for blush, bronzer, and powder.  The smallest brush (purple handle) is best used for applying concealer under the eye, lid, and face area though it can also be used to apply eyeshadow. The flat brush (orange handle) is best used for foundation and/or moisturizer.

2.) ELF Cream Eyeliner in Black ($3.00 +tax)-- Okay, you can't get a better deal than this for long lasting, rich pigmented eyeliner! I have bypassed this line, which is abbreviated for Eyes, Lips, and Face, everytime I see the display at the grocery store or drugstore makeup aisle because I was hesitant at the quality for the low price.  However, one of my makeup artist friends, who I highly respect, recommended this brand and product so I had to give it a try.  Now I confess that this is my daily eyeliner wear. I even use the little eyeliner brush that it comes with because it is really stiff thus giving it a nice defined look.  The ELF cream eyeliner stays put, which also means that you need a really good eye makeup remover as well. lol!  So give it a try.  Plus it comes in additional colors!

3.) Almay Oil Free Makeup Eraser Sticks ($5.49 + tax)  This is a GREAT invention though so simple to use!  I know you can just use a regular q-tip and eye makeup remover as a substitute, but I must say that these sticks have come in very handy on makeup jobs such as photo shoots and weddings when I needed to do a quick clean up under the eyes.  I've always liked the Almay eye makeup remover solution so it's good to know that I can get it in this format as well!  I stumbled upon this item while shopping for my Ulta rewards  gift.  This was one of those items that was listed as a free item I could choose.  Even though I got these for free, I will definitely be replenishing on these eraser sticks in the future! :)

4.)  Makeup Forever HD Foundation ($40.00 + tax) Last, but definitely not least is this liquid foundation from Makeup Forever.  For many years, I have been using mostly MAC foundations, but recently another artist described this brand as the "MAC of Europe" because it is just as popular over there as MAC is in the U.S. .  So I had to try, and I must say that I LOVE this foundation.  The foundation shades are so great and not so yellow as some of the MAC formulas can be.  Plus, it truly looks like second skin on your face!  I purchased several shades for my recent trip to NYC Fashion Week, and it worked awesome!  My brides love it,too!  It gives great coverage without looking cakey.  The price point is a bit higher than MAC foundations, but I think it is worth the extra splurge.  It doesn't hurt in my opinion that it's also a fav of Samantha Chapman, who I mentioned earlier in this post.  :)

So there you go, my September Beauty Favorites!  I may not post every month on favorite products and tools just to post something, but only when I feel that it truly is a great item and needs to be shared to my readers!  so I hope you enjoyed this post.  Until next time!

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK SPRING/SUMMER 2012!!

Over a month ago, I received an invitation to do makeup at NEW YORK FASHION WEEK this Fall for a major designer brand-NAUTICA !  My friend and respected colleague, Clarissa Luna, who was this year's winner at the North American Hairstyling Awards Event for Best Makeup Artist, led the Nautica makeup team.  So excited to be apart of something that I have always dreamed of participating in!   One of the best things I loved about my trip was meeting the other fabulous artists, stylists, and photographers that Clarissa had invited as well from Austin so I had the opportunity to make some new stylish and fabulous friends.  Here are some pics from the trip courtesy of fab photographer,  Jenny Fu !

Photoshoot with Rachel Brooke Photography

Hello Fans,

I know it has been a long time since my last blog. Well, in the last couple of months, I gave birth to my 2nd child, a baby girl named Ella! So you can imagine my busyness these past couple of weeks. Now I’m ready to be back working and creating beautiful looks for all my favorite clients past, present, and future! I wanted to post some pics from a photoshoot I did right before my maternity leave this January. I had the pleasure to work with a fabulous photographer named Rachel Brooke. Rachel and I worked with a mutual client in the past and thought it would be fun to work again and capture some more great shots for both our portfolios. In addition, a fantastic hairstylist and friend of mine, Shelby Van Daley contributed her talents to the photo shoot.

We all were so thrilled to work with 3 beautiful ladies from the Austin area, some whom I have met and worked with from the pageant scene. One of the ladies was a former Miss Texas Teen USA winner! So here it goes--some of my favorite pics from that day outside in the beautiful fields north of Austin.
